What is Palliative Care?

Hospice care and palliative care are similar but have some important distinctions. In both cases, the goal is to manage pain and relieve our patients of their symptoms. However, in the case of hospice care, our patients do not have any curative options, while palliative care may provide certain curative options alongside. When a treatment is used to control pain and not explicitly cure an illness, it is called palliative treatment.

All Care Hospice offers palliative care to help manage the pain and symptoms of those facing serious illness and address the side effects and emotional stress of their current treatment. Patients may receive palliative care at any stage of their illness and may continue to receive curative treatment (such as chemotherapy, radiation, etc.), rehabilitation, or home care services at the same time.
